Winter Vulture Black Zip-Up Hoodie

'I lived in a mill that was built in 1721 for 8 years, and 6 of those years I was lucky enough to be visited regularly by a vulture I called ‘Mama Bird’. Sometimes she would visit daily for a few months, and then she would be gone for several months, but always came back…and every year she would bring two juvenile vultures, her babies, to come hang with me too.

I was in my masters program at the time and often would sit on the deck doing homework while she and her babies would bathe in the sun. If I was outside, she would spot me while making her rounds hundreds of feet in the sky and would land to come say hi. 

She was gentle and sweet and this hoodie features one of my favorite pictures of Mama Bird.  We had had a massive snowstorm and I was shoveling snow off the deck and she just hung out with me watching and chilling for the whole time I was out there. Knowing Mama Bird was one of the most magical experiences of my life. It broke my heart to leave the mill and know that I had to leave her too…but I know that I will meet another Mama Bird in the future and the spirit of the wild will be my friend again.
